Exploring Development at Neoperl: Ability Flow
Amidst our established daily routines, self-development may be last on our to-do list, though it should not be. Reflection and development are vital for an organization and for you as an individual. Read on to find out what you can do and what we do at Neoperl.

Abilities are part of our identity and can be kept in a constant flow through self-reflection and development initiatives. The Ability Flow Analysis aims to discover and recognize personalities across all Neoperl locations.
Introduced in 2019, one objective of the analysis is to assess the status quo of employees’ abilities. Participants are chosen by their local supervisors or nominate themselves, and leaders are automatically part of the analysis. This whole process is organized every two years and takes six months, which are roughly separated into analysis, review, and feedback sessions. Once our so-called pioneers have been identified, specific objectives for their future can be set. Pioneers are the people with an exceptional growth potential and willingness to take on new challenges.
The following year, it is time to check in on the pioneers, and review the analysis.

Why the Ability Flow Analysis?

Discovering and recognizing potential is part of our Neoperl culture. We want to identify the "right potential" for suitable positions.
As the world changes, demands at the workplace change with it. Company dynamics shift, and new visions for the future emerge. The question of succession planning is imminent for most companies, as the Baby Boomer Generation will be retiring soon, leaving many positions open. This is where the Ability Flow Analysis comes into play because the goal is to determine available know-how and ensure it is kept within the company.
Succession planning is not the only reason for such an analysis, as it is also an effective tool for personal development. It’s like getting to know yourself better, but through a career-oriented lens. In the end, such an analysis is a chance for you to recognize your capabilities and will pave the way for an enhanced personal and professional work experience. It’s not about being the best possible version of yourself all the time, but to “flow and grow”.
Feedback from previous participants revealed that many find the opportunity to evaluate themselves productive, even if no tangible career changes happen afterward.
