Certified check valves are now allowed by Plumbing Codes and Standards in the US and Canada for backflow protection in pull-out spouts and handheld showers.ANSI/ASME A112.18.3M is the standard that defines backflow protection requirements for Plumbing Fixture Fittings. It is now also referenced in the main North American standards for fixture fittings, ANSI/ASME A112.18.1 and CSA B125, and it is unique in the fact that it is a performance-based standard requiring rigorous life testing of multiple check valve samples for mechanical wear and aging in hard water. NEOPERL® offers an extended "Developer's Kit" of certified check valve samples covering a size range from 3/8" (10mm) to 3/4" (20mm) for a recommended range of flow from less than 0.5gpm to over 20gpm.
